Blue Point Capital Partners Competitive Advantages
History Transaction Size and Type Investment Interests Investment Principles Competitive Advantages Portfolio Companies
F lue Point's strategy is to physically locate its offices in markets rich in middle market companies that are not completely served by money center investment firms. We fundamentally believe that equity investments are based on strong working relationships forged by regional proximity and style. As the largest provider of resident private equity in the Midwest, Pacific Northwest and Southeast, Blue Point offers the sophistication of larger, money center firms but with stronger local support. Because of Blue Point’s proximity to its investments and the competitive advantages summarized below, we are often the preferred investor in the regions we serve.
  • Operational Support
Blue Point has relationships with numerous seasoned executives who provide operational support, when appropriate, to investments. Blue Point's Operating Executive Group (OEG) works in a variety of capacities including assistance with due diligence, serving on boards of directors and acting as mentors to management teams by providing advice and coaching through business cycles and challenges. The 20 members of the Operating Executive Group have an average of 20 years of operating and management experience across a wide variety of industries. Each portfolio company benefits from the participation of at least one of these executives as a member of their Board of Directors. We believe that strong, working boards of directors will help middle market companies achieve their goals more quickly.

  • Strategic Planning
Middle market companies often need help moving from the tactical to the strategic. Blue Point Capital's team of investment professionals has significant experience in working with management teams to develop and execute short- and long-term strategic plans. These plans often include executing acquisition strategies. Blue Point provides its portfolio companies with the resources to source, evaluate, finance, integrate and ultimately enhance value through the completion of complementary add-on acquisitions.

  • Access
Blue Point's longevity in the middle market gives our managers access to a broad range of competitive and capital resources. Blue Point leverages the buying power of all its portfolio companies to create profitability improvements through savings on items such as insurance coverage and general, maintenance and repair line items common across most businesses. New customers, markets and capital can be more easily accessed through Blue Point's extensive contacts and market presence.

  • Shanghai Liaison Office
A significant value driver of North American based middle market companies will be their ability to capitalize on opportunities presented by Asian economies. To address this opportunity, Blue Point established its China Liaison Office to assist its existing and future portfolio companies. Blue Point believes its China Liaison Office provides a value enhancing resource to its investments which is not available to many smaller middle market companies.

  • Results
Blue Point is committed to achieving maximum equity appreciation in conjunction with management. We have successfully exited our investments at the appropriate times, while creating wealth for all our partners. Blue Point has exited past investments through recapitalizations, private sales and initial public offerings.
